I received my Master’s and PhD degrees in computer science from Masaryk University in 2004 and 2008, respectively. My PhD thesis was on Similarity Search on a Very Large Scale and my supervisor was prof. Pavel Zezula. During my studies, I was on internships at SUNY, Binghamton, NY, USA and at Max-Planck-Institute for Informatics, Saarbruecken, Germany. I was granted a Fulbright scholarship to spend the 2015 Fall semester at CIIR, University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA, USA.
My main activities are the following:
- research within the scope of several projects (my full list of publications)
- implementation of indexing and searching structures and prototype applications
- supervision and cooperation with (under)-graduate students
- teaching: recently, I have prepared a course about NoSQL Databases
Fields of interest: similarity search, principles of databases, NoSQL databases, graph databases, distributed data structures, management of Big Data, content-based retrieval, peer-to-peer structures
In 2017, I have co-founded company Ximilar which partially builds on the research we did at DISA.
